3. HIGHLIGHT FROM CLASS

Discuss one thing you learned from the live class or breakout room discussion with your classmates. You can talk about any topic covered.

There are various teaching skills, it all depends on our (the teachers') energy vocal range, character voices, mood and or sound effects, We can also pick up from a learners' facial expression whether the learner is bored (becomes fidgety) or interested in the topic/lesson. The best way to do that is DON'T TEACH - ENGAGE with your learners.

4. WATCH VIDEO

Our goal is to become amazing ESL teachers. Here’s another video demonstrating some incredible ESL teaching skills. Watch the video and answer the questions below:

A. Why is it powerful to teach with English Only?

B. Why is it powerful to use sound effects and fun sounds while teaching?

Answer: The learner will remember the lesson by remembering the sound effects /  fun they had whilst learning.

C. How often did the teacher have the children moving or talking?

Answer: Almost the entire lesson

D. Why is it powerful to have children moving and talking during class?

Answer: So they may participate and be a part of the learning process. They will not have a chance to become bored either

5. TRAUMA INFORMED TEACHING

Hope City is a ministry of Bring Me Hope. Visit Bring Me Hope’s Website: www.bringmehope.org

Write down one thing you learned about Bring Me Hope after visiting the website.

Answer: I watched the video, the child is filled with trauma, but thankfully she has a compassionate, empathetic, observant teacher who fills her with so much of love, which makes her look forward to her next lesson.

6. BIBLE READING

Online Bible: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%201&version=NLT

Read John 1 and answer this question. In John 1:38-39, we see that Jesus told his disciples/students to come and follow Him. The students didn’t just listen to Jesus, they lived with Him, traveled with Him, ate with Him. Why is this a significant and powerful way to teach? How can you apply this to your life?

Answer: Live by example. Dont just teach it - live it!!! Jesus is love and we all need love and compassion. People tend to live where they find this

For Muslim, Hindu, and other Religions

After each class you will be given homework assignments to complete before the next class. The homework assignments will include many topics like ESL skill development, trauma and orphan care, and Bible questions. If you are Muslim, Hindu, or from another religion, we understand that you don’t know that much about the Bible. We just ask that you show effort and try to answer the question as best you can. It’s ok if the answer is not correct.

7. TRAUMA INFORMED TEACHER

You will be learning a lot about students that have experienced trauma and how you can help as a teacher. As a teacher, you have a unique position in the student's life. You can be a teacher, friend, encouragement, and counselor. You are in a powerful position to help a student! Describe 3 different ways a teacher has a very important role in the life of a student.

Answer:    Be a friend, be friendly, kind, attentive.
